Host a UzeNet server

Source publication pending: the public repository currently lacks the server source. The script below will stop before installation until that source is published.

Use an Ubuntu server with your own hostname. Configure DNS and public TCP ports 80, 443, 34567, 34568 and UDP 34567 first. The default certificate setup also requires www.YOUR_DOMAIN; use --no-www if that name is unavailable.

Inspect the downloaded script, then run it as your normal user. It uses Git to obtain the latest main branch and starts the core installer, which requests sudo access.

bash install-server.sh --domain YOUR_DOMAIN --cert-email YOUR_EMAIL

Run the same command to update a clean checkout. Local changes and divergent history stop the update. Installation restarts services, so schedule updates outside active games.

Your server has its own accounts and configuration. Directory publication is opt-in. Installing does not copy this server's private settings or grant federation trust.
